Unbeknownst to him at the time, Mike Russell was one of the first people in North America to commercially market social media technologies and strategies, as a full-time Partner Evangelist for the newly-formed professional services group (WELLEngaged) of  pioneering, bay area online community The WELL, circa 1996.

Mike has invested 25+ years as a technology analyst, project manager, content producer, business development and strategic communications professional.

For the last 12 of those years, he’s focused on helping organizations use Internet Social Media, software-as-a-service (SAAS), web-optimized public relations, user interface design and web project management to make their work in finance, healthcare, research, security and public policy to do things like stop terrorists, create the hotel guestroom of the future, get funding to bring telemedicine services to the developing world …and even go public.

Mike is an active barcamp/unconference and open-source intelligence proponent. As a member of Government 2.0 club, he led sessions at Government 2.0 DC and and Health Camp DC, and actively participated in Transparency Camp and Crisis Camp.
